One of the most important tasks in building a large MLM network marketing team is learning how to work with prospects. You can buy lists of MLM leads or better yet, generate them yourself. Either way, you need to develop the skills to follow up with them.

The most successful networkers have learned how to deal with different types of people and personalities. Frequently I am asked how to deal with MLM leads who are negative about our industry, our company, or what we do.

And the solution is very simple...don't even try!

I have always found that there are many more people who are positive and open to network marketing, than those who are negative. So the fix is easy. I ignore the negative prospects and focus on the positive ones.

If I'm talking with a lead, whether on the phone or in person, and they come across as negative, our discussion is done. I just won't waste my time trying to convince them, when there are so many other prospects who are positive and open-minded.

Even if I manage to enroll a negative person into my business, they rarely turn out to be a successful business partner. Negative people are often turn out to be whiners, complainers, and excuse-makers. Typically they are high-maintenance, rarely recruit anyone themselves (nobody wants to work with negative people) and quit the business at the first bump in the road.

I’ve learned that the energy I waste on a negative prospect can always get better results coaching a positive-minded new business partner who is capable of duplicating exactly what I do.

The key to being able to be very selective about which prospects you spend your time with is to put yourself in a situation where you have more high-quality MLM leads contacting you each day than the time to follow up with them.

Learn to focus exclusively on the positive prospects and watch your network marketing business grow!
